This is an announcement that Jan and Marshall Madill, the founders of Integrity Insurance Agency, have been looking forward to for a while now. But we can honestly say, now that it is here, it is very bitter-sweet. However, it is also not so much about Jan and Marshall as it is about what lies ahead for the staff, customers, and insurance companies that have made Integrity Insurance Agency what it is today.
Effective January 5, 2023, Jan and Marshall are “passing the baton”, “handing over the reins”, “advancing the torch” as the owners of Integrity Insurance Agency. One of the new owners is already a team member of the agency. The other is new to Integrity but has been in a similar position with a different emphasis in the financial services industry.
Matt Harmon joined Integrity Insurance Agency in our Burlington office in May of 2021. He had virtually no experience in the independent insurance world and very little experience when it comes to insurance. Matt grew up in LeRoy. Earned both his Bachelor’s Degree and his MBA with an emphasis on accounting from Emporia State University. He had 10 years of sales and management experience before coming to Integrity Insurance Agency.
Matt approached us because he was looking for a career opportunity that would also allow him to be the husband and father that he wanted to be for his family. The timing was perfect, not only for Matt but for Jan and Marshall as well. We immediately began to grow a tremendous friendship. The mutual respect was undeniable. The office in Burlington began to blossom into the type of business we had always envisioned it could be. Matt grew up in the insurance industry extremely quickly because of his hard work, constant study, and focus on being the best. Matt is now viewed as a seasoned professional.
Jason Seele is the owner of JS Wealth Management with over 22 years of experience in the finance industry. For years Jason has had a goal of expanding his financial advice into the property/casualty world. He has seen firsthand what he believed to be his clients paying too much for their home and/or auto insurance, or their business insurance, but he was not in a position to do anything about it. He has tried networking with property/casualty agents but usually ended up frustrated by the agent not seeing the big picture.
Once Jason found Integrity Insurance Agency and realized our goals line up with his goals in terms of customer service, he knew he wanted to try to bring it all together.
So, it is both a tremendous sense of excitement and anticipation and a surprising amount of apprehension that Jan and Marshall are experiencing as they prepare for this major transition in their lives. Excitement and anticipation because this is what every business owner ultimately is working toward. The apprehension is totally selfish in looking forward to how we will handle our new roles in this business which is so much of who we have been for the past nearly twelve years.
Jan and Marshall are both going to continue to work for Matt and Jason. Marshall has committed at least five more years. As long as Marshall is working, Jan will probably continue to be the face of the Topeka office as well.
Marshall was visiting with a banker in mid-December. The banker is retiring at the end of this year. He told Marshall that he was going to miss his customers and co-workers tremendously. He was looking forward to never having to deal with an auditor ever again. That very much sums up how Marshall and Jan feel as well. They are excited to not have to deal with the “business” aspects of Integrity Insurance Agency. Each will be able to focus on what they enjoy most and what they are truly passionate about. That is meeting both current and new customers and pouring into those customers to make sure they have the very best insurance program that is available to them.
Matt and Jason share the same passion for our customers. They are both men of integrity. Both men are dedicated to their families. Both men are active in their communities. Both men are committed to being the very best at what they do.
Our goal from Jan, Marshall, Matt, and Jason is that, if we hadn’t made this announcement, no one would ever notice that there was a change at Integrity Insurance Agency.
Jan and Marshall want to express our most heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our loyal customers, staff, and insurance companies that have placed their confidence and trust in us over the years. This is not goodbye. This is just making a halftime adjustment so we can push on to bigger and better things to come.
